The wait is over. We’ve officially launched pre-owned designer clothing on LePrix Wholesale! From vintage Chanel tweed jacket to Fendi Zucca print pants and Gucci sweaters, we’ve got the clothing that’ll ensure your customers are best dressed.

Forget about fast fashion, shoppers today are on the hunt for quality over quantity, which means the timeless classics are now highly coveted and harder to find. Vintage clothing is a great way to score some vintage Chanel, Celine and Hermès at a lower entry point for your business and for your customers.

From a Chanel Tweed Jacket to a Burberry Trench Coat and a Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress, these iconic pieces are not only worth the investment, but they’ll never go out of style. What’s more, by investing in designer clothing for your business, you’re delivering top styles by the world’s most luxurious brands for less than the price of a designer handbag, or a vintage diamond bracelet.

TRENDY, BUT MAKE IT SUSTAINABLE

Your customers can also invest in today’s top trends — like schoolgirl chic, vivid hues, bold florals, and Y2K style — but in a more environmentally-friendly way by purchasing pre-loved designer pieces that are still stylish but also sustainably chic and worth the investment.

So, what are the top styles that are trending today and what should you source for your customers this spring and summer? While accessories like bucket bags, logo jewelry, oversized totes, and belly chains seemingly ruled the runways, so did vintage flashback clothing styles like pleated miniskirts, overalls, baggy jeans, 70s-style fringe, parachute pants, and feather-trimmed everything designed in updated silhouettes and unique patterns.

But why purchase a recreation of the original design that’s trending when your customers can invest in the designer item itself that started the trend? With access to Chanel suits, Givenchy LBDs, Fendi logo-print dresses, fringe-trimmed suede jackets, schoolgirl-approved microskirts, 60s-inspired prints, and artful crochet pieces, it’s easy for your business to be on top of the trends while stocking up on the world’s most sought-after designers, and timeless pieces too.

Plus, you’ll never have to worry about authenticity at LePrix Wholesale. We’ve joined forces with Jenna Padilla, Co-Founder and Authentication Expert at Real Authentication to discuss our clothing authentication process. If you’re new to Real Authentication, mention “LEPRIX” to get $5 credit on your first authentication. And if you’re new to LePrix Wholesale, mention Real Authentication for a free COA on your first Wholesale purchase.

What sparked your interest in luxury resale?

I always loved thrifting at local boutiques, but when I started a job in a small luxury boutique, I was completely blown away. Being able to handle such a wide variety of luxury goods on a daily basis quickly helped this become a deep-rooted passion, and second only to the mind-blowing margins of buying and selling used designer goods and digging into the materials and construction of merchandise became a fascinating challenge that has never ceased to pique my interest, even after over a decade of daily authentication research.

How and when did you launch Real Authentication?

Real Authentication was founded in 2016 by Jenna Padilla and Anastacia Bouzeneris. We saw the need for authentication expertise on a global scale, not limited to just one reseller. Some may be shocked to learn that virtual authentication at the time was all done via email. Real Authentication was the first to create an easy to use, but systematic platform and app to review authenticity virtually. Powered by the top experts in the industry, resellers and individuals alike could gain the peace of mind they truly deserve within just 24 hours of submission, all through an easy to use app. It was truly game changing for the entire industry.

Why did you become so passionate about fighting counterfeits?

Counterfeiting is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to illegal activity. It funds drug trade, human trafficking and has horrifying environmental repercussions as well. This along with our own individual experiences of having been scammed before, in one form or another, is something we wanted to help combat from day one.

What is your authentication process for clothing?

When beginning an authentication, the client is presented with a category-specific set of image requests. We really consider everything from the age of the garment down to the denier of the stitching. We keep up with manufacturing trends of new items, but also continually catalog what has been done in the past. Every collection comes with its own set of nuances and this is where we help bring peace of mind to our clients. If there is ever something additional or unique we need to see, the client will be notified with an image request within the app.

Which brands do you find are copied the most in clothing?

Anything that is trending will absolutely be highly counterfeited, and this is nothing new. Certain garments may have been highly counterfeited in the early 2000’s, (example: John Galliano era Christian Dior t-shirts) and even more may be highly faked from brand new collections today (example: Alessandro era Gucci garments or MaxMara coats). The streetwear craze really boosted the designer clothing and resale trends in recent years, so that is one area that should absolutely be reviewed with caution. (Off-White, Demna era Balenciaga). Wherever there is a craze, counterfeiters are sure to be there to take advantage of naive buyers. The short and correct answer is that all brands may be copied, which is why Real Authentication cautions all buyers and sellers to have an expert review.

What’s the #1 telltale sign that a piece of clothing may be a fake?

Similar to the methodology experts apply when reviewing handbags, we always review all brand identifiers. On garments, this typically takes it up another level due to brand specific construction details that are unique to a clothing style. Example: Tisci era Givenchy T-shirts have a signature T dart at the back. Or Chanel jackets that feature chain-link trim at the interior hem. Whether it’s a button, zipper or composition tag, our experts will review these areas for authenticity markers that we have spent years studying.

Looking forward, what do you think brands must do (or will do) to more accurately battle the counterfeit market in the future?

Technology has been a huge focus for designer brands in recent years with the addition of NFC chips located inside merchandise and branded collateral. Blockchain technology will certainly assist in the ability for brands to check, monitor and track new merchandise moving forward. New brand protocols aside, buyers should be aware that counterfeiters will stop at nothing to copy [or even steal] new technologies or protocols as they emerge. Technology is not a complete solution, but it will certainly be a helpful tool to have in the arsenal. Whether luxury brands decide to partner directly with third party authentication experts such as Real Authentication remains to be seen, but with new renditions of second-hand selling platform partnerships emerging every quarter, we can only foresee that being the next step in global luxury authentication.
